Kitchen Countertops

The large peninsula on the custom Maple cabinets provides not only a great breakfast bar, but plenty of extra workspace for anyone who enjoys cooking. Built using a 1 1/2" base supported on the overhangs by six 1/2" thick steel bars, the 24x24 with a huge Kraus stainless steel sink set in flush with the level of the tile. Brush crumbs into the 30"x17"x10"deep sink easily when cleaning up. Crossville Ceramics porcelain tile were laid over a Schluter Ditra uncoupling membrane, then grouted with Laticrete Spectralock Epoxy grout in Sand Beige. A Kraus pot filler faucet completes the peninsula. On the opposite side of the kitchen, the same procedure and materials were used. The GE Cafe induction cooktop is set into a standard sized opening in the counter. Tile backsplashes on both sides of the kitchen use the same epoxy grout and are thus stain and grease proof. Edges of the countertops are solid Maple with Schluter stainless steel edge trim. Schluter stainless steel cove molding epoxied in completes the easy care counters.
